Yesterday, the union representing NZ Post workers refused to deliver our flyer to Wellington residents. They failed.
NZ Post management has told its employees it’s “not appropriate for them to act as a censor in determining what it would and won’t deliver.” Those workers have been instructed to deliver our flyer from today (Tuesday 27 August). Let’s see if they do.
The Wellington City Councillors installed by the Labour and Green parties don’t want Wellington residents to read our flyer. And they’re using The Post’s Justin Wong to swing the axe. Wong made no attempt to contact Better Wellington – hardly objective journalism!
Fallacious smears on us or our supporters won’t stop Better Wellington!
Attempts to subvert the communication and distribution of facts to Wellington residents is an attack on the principle of freedom of speech and freedom of information.
LET US BE ABSOLUTELY CLEAR: THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT COUNCILLORS HAVE TRIED TO CENSOR INFORMATION OR SUBVERT THESE PRINCIPLES! Earlier this year, these same councillors tried to stop an event being held at the Wellington Convention Centre, which is struggling to make a profit, because they were uncomfortable with the subject matter.
The council wants Wellington residents kept in the dark. Councillors appear too immature to debate certain ideas. That’s why they have orchestrated this attack on Better Wellington.
The key policy of Better Wellington is PARTY POLITICS DO NOT BELONG AROUND THE COUNCIL TABLE. We urge all Wellington residents next year to ensure that only independent candidates are voted to the city council. You cannot serve both Wellington City and a political party at the same time. Look at where that is getting the city.
Wellington is being crushed by the agendas of political parties. Residents see the party agenda every day with the growing number of speed bumps installed on our city’s roads. The thousands of car parks removed from the CBD. The cycle lanes that cut traffic down to a single lane. The complete lack of financial accountability. The culture and identity politics usurping democratic rights and principles.
Already, Labour Party councillor Ben McNulty is resorting to calling any opposition to this council as being “racist disinformation”. Typical unintellectual dismissal of anyone who questions the Party line.
These councillors are anti-growth, anti-business, anti-freedom and want to continue bringing down the iron curtain over the city. It’s like they want a re-birth of the Soviet Union.
So, just in case some aberrant NZ Post worker fails to put one of our flyers in your letterbox and instead throws them away, here it is for you to read and make up your own opinion. Click the link below
We thank you for your support.
